First Thoughts Toward Organizing

After much thought, I think it is pretty clear that forming a non-profit corporation is the best way to go. I’m not in this project to get rich. I’m in it for the community.  Sure, I’d love to be rich, but I’d like to use my riches to build this project and not the other way around.

Can this be done as a non-profit?  Absolutely.  The concept is fully in line with both the IRS requirements for a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization as well as a New Hampshire Non-Profit Corporation (which includes IRS requirements as an option).  We could fall into the requirements under any number of the following:

  • An Association of Churches (Religious Exemption)
  • Advancement of Religion (Educational Exemption)
  • Public Discussion Group (Educational Exemption)
  • Ecumenical Organization (Possible Religious Exemption)

So, what is this all about?

For a long time now, Ive had this dream… a vision if you will.

Most religions have their places of worship – temples, synagogues, churches, etc. Pagans as we like to say, worship in Nature and wherever Nature is found, that is where we worship. While this is certainly true, I’ve had this idea that it would be nice to have more permanent places in nature to gather. I know I’m not the only one, because there are already places that serve just this purpose. Some of the ones I know of locally are listed to your right under “Existing Sanctuaries”. They do a great job, hard as it is, and I don’t want to undermine what they do. In fact, I’d like to add to it. There are far too few Pagan Sanctuaries out there. I created this site with several purposes in mind:

  • Support existing Sanctuaries
  • Create new ones
  • Networking between Sanctuaries
  • Networking between Pagan individuals and groups who use and contribute to these sanctuaries

Whether public or private, group owned or individually owned, this site seeks to promote and help all Pagan Sanctuaries, beginning in the New England region.
